Twitter Madness

Social Networks seem to be the new thing. All of sudden the whole word is crazy with twitter. Even though twitter isn’t really that new. My friends and I have been using twitter since ‘07. Ya know, before it was the cool thing. But just like Myspace and Facebook the more the merrier. The past few days I’ve been having fun following my friends and tons of strangers. The best feature has to be the way news can travel so fast through twitter. In the midst of this Swine Flu thing, I’ve been completely updated, although nothing major really seems to be happening. Twitter is making the world even smaller. Last night there was an earthquake in California, I knew probably before google, from the loads of people twittering. While watching American Idol, by simply searching #idol I could see everyone else’s reaction to Adam being in the bottom two. (Yes I’m an American Idol fan. Go Gokey!) I even enjoy reading Ryan Secreast’s twitters before the show. Speaking of celebrity’s, even the WhiteHouse is on Twitter.

I use about three different apps to twitter aside from the actual website. TweetDeck for my computer, Twitterrific for my iTouch, and Twitterberry for my blackberry. Sometimes I use just regular SMS text messaging if I’m in a hurry.  Now that I’ve typed all that out, I’m wondering WHY do I need so many apps to twitter LOL! Well let me explain. TweetDeck shows both Facebook and Twitter status updates, and it makes RT (retweet) and replying easier. Obviously I’m in love with iTouch and it wouldn’t be complete without a Twitter app. I downloaded Twitterberry recently so I can send mobile twitpics.

Well enough about Twitter, even though its no longer #followfriday here’s a couple of peeps I want to recommend:  Sister_LoLo, MsMikkole, MyOfficalPage

Oh and don’t forget to follow me!

Kindle App On iPhone and iPod Touch

iTouch I’ve never been a big fan of  e-book reading. There’s just something about the old fashioned paper back that I can’t seem to give up. I love going to the book store, flipping through pages, and even the smell of books. My mom on the other hand is a big advocate of e-book technology. If it was up to her there would be no more paper books AT ALL. She calls it her way of “going green.”

Because of her influence I have read a few ebooks and tested out a few ebook readers. It always seems that I would like reading on the devices that weren’t made just for ebook reading. For example the Nokia 770. Just recently my dad bought me an iTouch. (Thanks Kirk!) As of today the Amazon Kindle has an iPhone application that allows you to read Kindle books, and purchase their books off of Amazon.  I downloaded the app and bought the book “Sundays at Tiffany’s” by James Patterson. Surprisingly, I actually really enjoy reading on the iTouch. Some people complain that the size of the screen is to small to read on. I would understand that if I didn’t feel like the whole point is convenience.  With the iPod or iPhone you can carry your library everywhere and read at anytime. Great for me. As a teacher I already have a lot of papers, books, and materials with me. Adding another book or large electronic device to my list of things to bring everyday is not what I’m looking for. I keep my Itouch in my purse anyways.

Along with size, another great feature is the one click buy and Wispersync. Within seconds I had purchased my book and it was sent straight to my iPod. Also for anyone into ebooks, you know that they can get expensive. Well all Kindle books are 9.99 or less. Great price, size, and reading!

New Computer

Got a new computer! YAY! And I have the full Adobe Suite. Hopefully that means lots of good things to come.
